Jesolo's history
Jesolo, a lot of energy !
The Jesolo's history can be summarized in the names that this place has employed: Equilium, Jesolo, Cavazuccherina and Jesolo again. The actual territory was in the ancient times a lagoon, inside which the biggest isle was conquered and called by the romans Equilium, horses's land. After the collapse of the roman empire, the Oderzo's inhabitants, to defend by the barbarians, escaped in Eraclea and on the Equilio's isle that they called Jesolo.
Lately Jesolo entered to the part of the maritime Venice, entity that then gave origin to the Venice Republic. In the end of 1500, was made an important intervention of river deviation of Piave and Sile rivers with a canal that was realized by the engineer Zucharin, that gave the name to
the new built-up area, Cavazuccherina. This name resisted to the napoleonic and austrian invasion, until 1930, year in which the Italy Kingdom gave again the name “Jesolo”. In the '30, there was the re-discover of Jesolo: in fact the first establishments for heliotherapic curse were born with the first hotels and restaurants.
Currently, Jesolo accomodates 6 millions of tourists that pass the holidays in its awesome beaches, that enjoy to a lot of organized shows, that make resound his name in the most different languages, in every part of the world. Jesolo offers multitude of attractions, fun, locals, pubs, restaurants, shops and not only... there is plenty's choice !
